FAQs

What is a “school show?”

The Thursday, December 9 performance is being sold as part of our Mission Imagination field trip program–meaning that hundreds of local schoolchildren will be able to take a field trip to Raue Center to view our show!

This performance takes place during the school day at 10 AM, so students will need to miss school to participate. Parents and students will be responsible for making the necessary arrangements with the school. This performance is mandatory for participating students

What is the Community Cookie Party? Is this a mandatory event?

The Community Cookie Party was first held in 2019 as a chance for students and families to get to know one another outside of rehearsals, and to welcome the start of the holiday season–and we are so excited to start this tradition back up this year!  This event is held before Crystal Lake’s downtown lighted parade, so you’ll be able to get a prime spot to view the event, as well as some delicious holiday treats!

As part of the event, we also hold a family cookie contest judged by Raue Center board members and community leaders–so get your best recipes ready!  We will send full details on how to participate in this once the event is closer–and yes, there are prizes for the winners!

The event is private for only  Christmas Carol cast, crew, and families.  It is not mandatory that you attend or that you participate in the cookie contest–but we hope you’ll consider making this part of your experience!  It’s quickly become a fun (and delicious) part of this special event!

What restrictions are in place for in-person rehearsals and crew calls?

Our COVID-19 protocols are constantly evolving based on the recommended guidelines from state and local public health authorities.  At this time, masks are required at Raue Center, as well as social distancing and other sanitation protocols. While we expect these to continue to evolve as we get closer to the rehearsal period, the most current protocols are available on our website.  We will continue to adapt these as the situation progresses, and hope to continue to move forward with lifting protocols when deemed appropriate.

All registered families will be required to acknowledge our safety procedures when they enroll and will be updated as protocols change.  Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy while in our space!

We have a conflict with a crew call date. Can we still sign up?

Due to the short timeline, your student’s attendance is very important to their success in the production. We ask that students attend all calls they are scheduled for unless there is an emergency.

As noted in the Conflicts Policy, we will allow one conflict during the rehearsal period.  Please see our Conflicts Policy above for further information.

We’ve never taken a Sage Studio class. Can we still sign up?

No experience with Sage Studio is necessary for Sage Backstage!  We do ask that only high school students enroll.

If your student has relevant backstage experience and would like to focus on a particular area, we are happy to accommodate them and give them a hands-on experience–just email us at education@rauecenter.org and we will be happy to help!

How can I purchase tickets to A Christmas Carol?

Each family will receive two complimentary tickets to the performance of their choice.  These complimentary tickets will be redeemable online only via an offer code that will be unique to your family and will be available once tickets are on sale (date TBD). You can purchase additional tickets by calling or visiting our Box Office during Box Office hours, or through our website at www.rauecenter.org. (NOTE: Gift certificates are only redeemable through the Box Office, not online.)

Do you offer any financial aid options?

Sage Studio is committed to making theatre education accessible to all.  If you are in need of financial assistance, please reach out to us at education@rauecenter.org–we will be happy to work with you on a plan to meet your needs!

What is your refund policy?

In the event that your child cannot participate in a Sage event after you have enrolled, Raue Center will issue a refund of your enrollment fee less 50%, up to two weeks before the start date. After this time period, if your child cannot participate in the class we will refund you 50% of your total fee in the form of a Raue Center gift certificate, which is redeemable for any upcoming Sage class within a year of cancellation, or can be used at Raue Center for tickets, etc. (restrictions may apply).
