Improv For Kids: Advanced Level

Ages: 13 – 18 (For those who have taken Sam’s Improv basic or intermediate class, if under the age of 13, you must reach out to rcsaeducation@rauecenter.org prior to enrollment for participation approval.)

Ready to take your improv to the next level? This fast-paced, high-energy class is designed for experienced performers who want to sharpen their instincts, deepen character work, and build smarter, stronger scenes. Students will focus on advanced techniques like making bigger choices, game-based scenes, long-form structures, and confident ensemble play. Expect challenging exercises, supportive collaboration, and lots of laughs as you push past habits and take bold creative risks. Perfect for performers who already know the basics and are hungry to play bigger, listen deeper, and trust their instincts. Come ready to think fast, commit fully, and have fun doing it.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Sam Barbaro (Of GreenRoom Improv) is a Chicago native and first-generation American, raised by Sicilian immigrants in the Northwest Suburbs. Received a B.S. in Media Studies and Film from Northern Illinois University. Trained and completed the Second City Conservatory, IO, and The Annoyance Theater programs. Sam was fortunate enough to study improvisation under Steve Carell and the late great “Father of Improv,” Del Close. Sam has experienced great joy teaching and coaching Improv, as well as performing with Greenroom Improv for over 13 years, along with other teams in the Chicagoland area.
