Come join Raue Center for their annual 5K Run for the Arts!

Over twenty years ago, Mike Splitt stood up at a chamber of commerce dinner to announce that the chamber wanted to organize a 5K event in honor of Bob Blazier’s unparalleled community accomplishments. Bob was to name a charity of his choice and he chose Raue Center For The Arts.

The event continues to grow and build community, just like Bob. For over 50 years, Bob has truly defined what it means to be a community-minded citizen. His dedication and commitment to education, healthcare, and building business is something to be celebrated and admired.

The run begins in downtown Crystal Lake, right outside of the beautiful and historical Raue Center for the Arts. The course will take you through the quaint neighborhoods surrounding downtown crystal lake and wind you back to finish where you started.
Don’t want to commit to a full 5K, but still want to get active to support the arts? Rosie’s 1 Mile Walk was designed just for you. Perfect a stroll with family, friends, neighbors or anyone who would enjoy a morning walk on a beautiful Sunday morning. Bring the dog, strollers, rollerblades, bikes, wagons, unicycles or just your two feet!
Not feeling comfortable getting together in groups, run your own virtual race! We understand that even with social distant protocols in place, people may feel more comfortable doing a 5K on their own! Set your pace at your place! Register for this year’s 5K and receive a swag AND this year’s race t-shirt BUT chart your own course! Make sure you take pictures so you can tag Raue Center on Facebook with the hashtags, #BBR2020 and #RunForTheArts. If you are in the downtown area, run past the Raue and snap a picture! No matter which option we choose, we hope you choose to support the Arts and enjoy the outside!

Feel like the 19 in COVID-19 is the weight you’ve gained since March? Looking for a way to exercise, have fun, and do some good for the community at the same time? Still feeling uncomfortable gathering in groups outside your circle? Then gather your family, co-workers, or inner circle of friends and create a BOB BLAZIER RUN FOR THE ARTS QUARANTEAM!

This year, Raue Center will still be offering the traditional 5K and 1M Run/Walk through the streets of downtown Crystal Lake AND we’ll be implementing extra safety precautions as we do so. But we understand that many people still feel uncomfortable gathering in groups with strangers. To ease those fears the Blazier Run is offering the VIRTUAL RUNNER option. You’ll still get a T-Shirt and a chance to win a coveted Bob-Bobblehead Trophy*, but you can run the race at your pace with people you feel comfortable with.

Simply register for the race and choose the VIRTUAL RUNNER option, and email jknight@rauecenter.org to give your QUARANTEAM details. Then run the race between September 18th and 20th and join in on the fun!
*Runners must gather before September 20th and post pictures to our social media feeds to be eligible for Bobblehead Trophy.
