This engaging and energetic class introduces students to the dynamic world of musical theatre dance. Designed for beginners, the class focuses on building a strong foundation in dance techniques commonly used in Broadway-style performances, including jazz, ballet, and character work. Each session includes a warm-up, technique practice, and learning choreography. By the end of the course, students will have the confidence to perform a short routine inspired by a classic or contemporary musical theatre number. No prior dance experience is required. NOTE: Comfortable clothing and dance shoes (jazz shoes or sneakers) are recommended.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Sarah Beth Lipsman (Professional Actor and Choreographer) – S.B. for short, is a Chicago based actor, singer, and dancer. She comes originally from right outside of New York City, but when she moved to Chicago, she fell in love! SB is a graduate of Roosevelt University with a BFA in Musical Theater and Dance. Since graduating, she has performed all over the city in everything from big musicals to outrageous sketch shows! Chicago credits include: Pippin (Towle Theater), Catch Me If You Can (Surging F&T), Gypsy (Brightside Theatre), and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Metropolis Performing Arts.) She is a proud company member of the sketch group, Comedy Dance Chicago, and is the associate director for the The Polar Express Christmas Show with Rail Events Productions. Choreography credits include: Gypsy (Beverly Theatre Guild), and Dear Edwina Jr. (Actors Training Center.)
