Students will spend four weeks honing their musical theatre skills and learning all about the “behind the scenes” of what goes into a mainstage Raue Center show–while working right alongside our crew of Chicagoland theatre professionals. Students will get to build on all the great performance fundamentals we teach in the classroom, then put those skills into practice for an audience as part of the cast for our very own full-scale production of SEUSSICAL, JR!., performing for one weekend on Raue Center’s stage!
Placement Auditions for solo singing/speaking roles:
June 7th (5 pm and 6 pm)
There will also be information meetings at 5 pm and 6 pm – more information to come by May 27th. Roles will be announced via email on June 9th.
All enrolled students will be part of the show! We will hold a placement audition on June 6th, to determine individual role assignments for those interested in solo speaking/singing lines–but if your student only wants a role without solos or lines, just let us know by emailing us at email@example.com. Everyone will have a special part to play in this interactive theatrical experience!
If unable to attend this date, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an alternate audition.
**Financial aid available
ABOUT THE SHOW
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
FOR SEUSSICAL Jr. – Students must have attended at least ONE RCSA class in the past 18 months (virtual or in-person), be enrolled in an upcoming class or camp, or present equivalent theatre experience. (If presenting equivalent experience, please email email@example.com prior to enrolling.)
FOR SEUSSICAL KIDS: There is no prerequisite for this program–only an interest in performance!
Students should also be available for all performance dates and camp dates. To be considered for a larger speaking role, students must be available for the full camp rehearsal period; smaller roles are available for those with conflicts, but students should be available for the majority of the rehearsal period. If you have specific questions contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
HOW TO ENROLL
Due to the popularity of RCSA Presents programs and the limited number of spots, we offer multiple ways to sign up–these will go fast!
PLEASE NOTE: Once we reach 55 enrolled students per show, enrollment will close. This may happen before online enrollment is scheduled to open–please check our website and our RCSA Facebook for the most up-to-date information on availability.
In the event of a sellout, we will accept students for waitlist spots–to be added to that list, email us at email@example.com. Please include your name, your student’s name and age, and the best email address to reach you. If a spot becomes available we will reach out to via email–you will have 24 hours to respond before we move on to the next person on the list.
Please note, if your student enrolls in either show, the household will receive one complimentary ticket for the performance of your choice (some restrictions may apply). These tickets are not retroactive and will be available for redemption when tickets go on sale (date TBD), via an offer code that will be emailed to you for online use. Offer codes are good for only your family and are per family, NOT per student.
**Financial aid available–contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
