READY, SET, ACT!: ACTING FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS

Do you have a dramatic personality in your family that’s looking for a stage?  We’ve got a class for them!  This year Sage Studio launches a new series of classes for young performers, Sage Studio Junior–and we’re kicking it off with Ready, Set, Act!  This introduction to the craft of acting will use theatre games and creative play techniques to help bring students out of their shells and into the bright lights of the stage, and teach them the basics of theatre. Parents will be able to observe the last class and see the hard work come to life!

Pre-requisites: None.

ADVANCED ACTING WORKSHOP

December 29-30 (Monday and Tuesday)

Ages 15-18, 10AM-2PM

 

Looking for an opportunity over the winter break to prep for those big school auditions when school starts again? You’re in luck! Join us for a 2-day intensive acting workshop where students will get the chance to delve into what makes acting a “process”.  Explore the multiple elements and aspects of acting ranging from: trust, discovery, honesty, exploration, connection, and much more.  Advanced Acting is comprised of numerous exercises, which will culminate into a full ensemble assignment and have your students walk away with tools to allow them to nail those auditions!

Pre-requisites: Age limit is 15-18. Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for theatre. Students are also required to submit a video audition of a monologue from a play or musical. SHOWTUNE STYLES: FROM R&H TO ROCK-N-ROLL

January 10-31 (Saturday mornings)

Ages 15-18, 9AM-12PM

 

This fun workshop for teen singers focuses on the ever-changing world of musical theatre song styles–where students will study “classical” and “contemporary” repertoire, and put their knowledge into practice by learning and performing songs from each era.

Pre-requisites: Age limit is 15-18. Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for musical theatre. Students are also required to submit a video audition of a musical theatre song. If unable to submit a video, please contact Kate Wilford, kwilford@rauecenter.org, to schedule an audition.

BROADWAY BOUND: MUSICAL THEATRE FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS

Sage Studio Junior is proud to offer a brand-new class for the young “triple threat,” or for any kid who’s been wanting to try their hand at the exciting and vibrant art of musical theatre! This introduction to musical theatre will teach kids all about the process of creating a character, vocal technique and unique choreography combinations along with theatre games to stretch those creativity muscles—and help build the confidence they need to chase those big dreams and take the stage by storm in their next production. Parents will be able to observe the final class to see their young stars strut their stuff!

Pre-requisites: None.

TRIPLE THREAT: AUDITIONING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE

April 11-May 16 (Saturday mornings)

Ages 15-18, 9AM-12PM

 

Back by popular demand, this advanced workshop for teen performers is designed to hone audition skills in the three key musical theatre performance areas—acting, singing and dance—and ends with an audition opportunity for industry professionals!

Pre-requisites: Age limit is 15-18. Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for musical theatre. Students are also required to submit a video audition of a musical theatre piece, and a video of a monologue (if available). If unable to submit a video, please contact Kate Wilford, kwilford@rauecenter.org, to schedule an audition.

Application deadline is March 27, 2015.

 

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

June 8-25 and July 6-23 (Monday-Friday mornings)

Ages 14-18, 9AM-12PM

 

Our signature workshop is back for its fourth year and more popular than ever—a three-week intensive musical theatre program for students ages 14-18, culminating in a showcase of songs and scenes on the stage of the Raue Center!

Pre-requisites: Age limit is 14-18. Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for musical theatre. Students are also required to submit a video audition of a song (no more than three minutes). If unable to submit a video, please contact Kate Wilford, 815.356.9010 X10, to schedule an audition. Application deadline for all summer workshops is May 22, 2015.

 

 

STOLEN SCENES: SCENE STUDY FOR YOUNG ACTORS

September 12-October 3 (Saturday mornings)

Ages 15-18, 9AM-12 PM

 

Sage Studio once again offers this four-week course for high school actors, focused on the craft of scene study—and taking your acting technique to the next level!

Pre-requisites: Age limit is 15-18. Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for theatre. Students are also required to submit a video audition of a monologue from a play or musical. If unable to submit a video, please contact Kate Wilford, 815.356.9010 X10, to schedule an audition.

Application deadline for fall workshops is August 21, 2015.

TUITION AND PAYMENT POLICY: Classes are $100 each and payment is due within 14 days of receipt of the notification of acceptance or the position will not be held for the student.
