Raue Center presents major Broadway tours, symphony orchestras, family presentations, children’s theatre and comedy performances.
Raue Center is an active supporter of Chicagoland’s diverse performing arts and community organizations. The theater serves as the performance home of more than a dozen local not for profit arts groups. In fact, a quarter of Raue Center's yearly bookable dates are utilized by local arts and community productions. In its role as a supporter of the local arts, Raue Center provides leadership and technical assistance to community and arts organizations, as well as rental discounts of more than $100,000 annually.
Raue Center also reaches out to the community in numerous other ways. Each year, thousands of complimentary tickets are donated to schools, churches and civic groups, making the arts more accessible to everyone. Over the years, Raue Center has also provided many community organizations with a venue for varied public activities, including, Katrina relief efforts, Girl Scout tours, local athletic activities and special family events for the residents of McHenry County.
Raue Center features three visual arts galleries—the Wells Manufacturing Gallery, the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Memory of Florence Bohl & Her Family Gallery and the Gerhard and Patricia Weiler Family Foundation Gallery. The visual arts program’s mission is to enrich the lives of the people of the northern Illinois region by providing a center where they can benefit from the visual arts through artistic nourishment, education and creative expression.
Most exhibits rotate every six to eight weeks, with approximately eight exhibit periods in the year. Entries are juried by a visual arts committee. The committee judges the submissions based on creative ability, artistic merit, innovative nature of work, character and technical quality. At Raue Center, we always welcome new artists.
Annually, Raue Center seeks contemporary American artists for its season. Applicants must fill out an informational prospectus which includes name, contact information and media used by artist. Artists must also submit a selection of work in a digital format (CD) on a Windows/PC platform. Three-dimensional art work is considered on a case by case basis. For a prospectus packet, please contact Kate Wilford, general manager, at 815.356.9010 or at .
